Edith Moore-Hubert
Musician

Edith Moore-HubertAfter completing her bachelor’s degree with Hugh Thomas at Birmingham-Southern College, Ms. Moore-Hubert continued her piano studies with Herbert Stessin of the Juilliard School. She obtained her master’s degree in piano performance from Manhattan School of Music, where she studied piano with Solomon Mikowsky and chamber music with Gary Graffman. After graduate school Edith returned to her home town of Birmingham and continued her studies with Dolores Hodgens Howard, while teaching at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Birmingham-Southern College Conservatory, and Indian Springs School. Since moving to Jacksonville, she has been accompanist for the North Florida Women’s Chorale, University of North Florida Concert and Chamber Choirs, and was the 2006-2007 Visiting Artist-in-Residence at Jacksonville University. Currently she is a member of the adjunct faculty at Florida Community College at Jacksonville, and on the faculty of First Coast Community School of Music.

An active chamber musician, Ms. Moore-Hubert has performed as an accompanist in Leipzeig, Weimar, Nurnberg, Bern, Strasbourg, New York, Philadelphia, and throughout the Southeast. Most recently she performed with members of the Ritz Chamber Players and individuals from the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra in the first annual St. Augustine Music Festival. Edith is also founder and director of the St. Cecilia Arts Ensemble, an independent sacred music ensemble, which performs regularly at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Augustine, Florida.

After serving as coordinator for the Mayo Clinic Center for Humanities in Medicine in Jacksonville, Edie joined the staff at UF&Shands Jacksonville. As Musician-in-Residence she provides music at the bedside, in hospital lobby areas, and coordinates the Visiting Artist Concert Series.

Ms. Moore-Hubert also holds the position of organist at Fourth Church of Christ, Scientist, and is a pianist with Body and Soul: The Art of Healing.
