Natasha Gaziano
Artist in Resididence Natasha
Gaziano was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis at birth. Growing-up with
this chronic, genetic, progressive lung disease, she discovered that
dancing could lift her spirit and empower her to feel good even on the
worst of days. So much so that she decided to obtain a degree in Dance
Performance from the University of Florida and go on to become a Dancer
in Residence, sharing the healing power of dance as creative self-expression
with others.
Ms. Gaziano has been featured in educational and motivational videos
including: HourGlass, Dancing in Hospitals, and The Art of Breath. She
is the recipient of the University Scholars Award, Blair L. Sadler International
Arts in Healthcare Award, and Stoughtman Scholarship. In 2005, she received
a double lung transplant. Four months later, she was dancing again.
A
Pilates practitioner and dance instructor, Ms. Gaziano is also a motivational
speaker, advocate, and counselor for Cystic Fibrosis and lung transplant
awareness and education. Within the AIM program, she is the Co-Founder
of Breathe Strong, a comprehensive Pilates program designed
to meet the needs of others living with Cystic Fibrosis, and an instructor/choreographer
for Traffic: Dance it Off, a free dance class for overweight
teens.
