Shands HealthCare, affiliated with the University of Florida Health Science Center, is one of the premiere health systems in the Southeast. We are:
Shands HealthCare is made up of nine, not-for-profit hospitals, a network of more than 80 primary and specialty practices and a medical staff of more than 1,500 affiliated University of Florida faculty and community physicians. Shands at the University of Florida was established in 1958. Many physicians practicing at Shands at UF are consistently ranked among America's best by U.S. News and World Report. Shands Children's Hospital was established in 1996. Shands Children's Hospital is located within Shands at UF and is the second-largest children's hospital in Florida. It is the only comprehensive pediatric facility in North Central Florida. Shands Jacksonville was established in 1870. Shands Jacksonville is a 696-bed tertiary care center. Shands HomeCare was established to provide a continuum of care when a patient is released from the hospital. HomeCare can be the most important part of the recuperation process. Shands HomeCare serves 11 counties in North Central Florida. ElderCare of Alachua County, Inc. was established to advocate for the elderly and provide services that build capacity, maximize independence, and enrich the quality of life for seniors in Alachua County and North Central Florida. |
