Who's Who

Eleanor BlairEleanor Blair
Adjunct Artist

Eleanor Blair graduated from The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art in New York City in 1969. She moved to Gainesville in 1971 and has been painting Central Florida scenes since that time. Her work is represented in the permanent collections of The Museum of Arts and Sciences in Daytona, The Polk Museum of Art, The Matheson Historical Center, and in private and corporate collections throughout the world. She is a well-known member of the Gainesville art community, and visitors to her downtown studio are always welcome.

Eleanor has painted several large murals throughout Shands hospitals, and recently completed a large landscape painting which she donated to be hung in the new Serenity Room at Shands UF. The painting, on a 4' by 6' canvas donated by Arts in Medicine, was created publicly in Shands Atrium, accompanied by live music played by AIM musician in residence Cathy DeWitt. Patients, visitors and staff stopped by to watch the painting come to life as they passed through the lobby, and several even participated in the
process.
