Lauren Arce, RN, BSN
Artist in Residence
Lauren
Arce began volunteering with Shands Arts in Medicine in 1997 while studying
psychology and dance at the University of Florida. In 1999 she began
working as AIM Program Coordinator, and served as local coordinator
for the 2002 Society for the Arts in Healthcare Annual Conference. She
went on to obtain her BS in nursing, and is currently working as both
a transplant nurse and an Artist in Residence with Shands Healthcare.
Specializing in movement, theater, digital photography, and videography,
Ms. Arce has worked with diverse patient populations from pediatrics
through geriatrics experiencing a wide range of disease processes and
health conditions. The recipient of the UF Center for Arts in Healthcare
Research and Education Dance in Healing Award Certificate and the Society
for the Arts in Healthcare Blair L. Sadler International Arts in Healthcare
Award, Ms. Arce is also a lecturer and guest
artist at conferences, universities, and hospitals throughout the US.
Her current projects within the AIM program include: AIM Kids,
arts & crafts with pediatric inpatients; Traffic: Dance it Off,
free dance classes for overweight teens; and Breathe Strong,
a comprehensive Pilates program for individuals with Cystic Fibrosis.
