Therapists and athletic trainers focus on prevention and treatment of sports related injuries.

High-level professional athletes, college athletes, high school athletes, weekend competitors, and recreational enthusiasts participating in soccer, basketball, running, golf, tennis and other athletic endeavors can benefit from our team of professionals.

UF Sports Performance Center

Our therapists and athletic trainers also are members of the UF Sports Performance Center and along with sports medicine physicians from the University of Florida College of Medicine have developed programs to help athletes train more efficient and safely.

Shands Rehab Center certified athletic trainers and exercise physiologists from the Sports Performance Center offer several programs to help athletes of all types improve their athletic performances while reducing their risks of injuries.

We offer sport-specific programs and personal training for individuals and small groups. In addition, we specialize in medical fitness, working with people who are interested in returning to an exercise program after an injury or illness. Also, we specialize in developing exercise programs for people with chronic diseases such as diabetes or cancer.

  • Get Fit For Sport
    Our professionals evaluate and develop an athlete’s conditioning and performance through strength, agility, core stability, speed, balance and flexibility drills.
  • Prepare for a Safe Landing
    Our team has developed a program that focuses on reducing the risk of ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) injuries. This program seeks to enhance athletes' balance, body/joint awareness, movement techniques, and muscle strength.
  • Youth Strength Training
    This program, limited to children 14 years of age and older, focuses on instructing children in proper resistance-training techniques, safety considerations when strength training, injury prevention and having fun.
  • Speed & Agility
    This training program emphasizes proper running, acceleration, deceleration and transitional movement techniques for better and safer athletic performances.
  • Get Fit for Tennis
    Certified athletic trainers provide various performance programs to help tennis players improve their flexibility, co-ordination, aerobic fitness and strength while reducing the risks of injuries.
  • Get Fit for Golf
    Our sports performance professionals provide a number of different performance packages to help golfers play better while reducing the risk of injuries.
  • Personal or Small Group Training
  • Personal and small group training sessions are available through our certified athletic trainers. Programs are available for children (seven years old and older) and adults.

  • Athletes 7-9 years old
    $50/hour (maximum two athletes)

    Athletes over 10 years old
    $60/hour (one athlete)
    $70/hour (two athletes)
    $90/hour (three athletes)

    Group Training
    $325 (4-6 athletes/12 sessions)
    $425 (4-6 athletes/18 sessions)

    Personal Training
    Set up training according to your schedule. This system encourages you to train individually or in groups on the days and times that best fit.

    For those athletes looking to improve their SPARQ rating, our team is SPARQ certified and can help you improve your SPARQ score.
