Osteomyelitis

Symptoms:
  • Pain in the bone
  • Local swelling, redness, and warmth
  • Fever
  • Nausea
  • General discomfort, uneasiness, or ill feeling (malaise)
  • Drainage of pus through the skin (in chronic osteomyelitis)

A physical examination shows bone tenderness and possibly swelling and redness.
