Risks:
  • Blood clots in the legs (deep vein thrombosis), which can dislodge and move to the lungs (pulmonary embolus)
  • Pneumonia
  • Infection that requires removal of the prosthesis
  • Prosthesis dislocation
  • Heterotopic bone formation (extra bone growth that can cause stiffness)
