The adult transport team transports more than 700 patients a year by helicopter or fixed wing aircraft. This patient population is composed of 60 percent trauma patients and 40 percent critically ill patients from other facilities.

The team, composed of paramedics and nurse paramedics who have extensive field experience as paramedics and in the ICU environment, is available 24 hours a day and responds within minutes to a transport call. This response and availability can mean life or death for a trauma patient. The team delivers advanced transport services such as transporting patients with intra-aortic balloon pumps (IABP), ventricular assist devices, heliox, and nitric oxide, and is certified in pediatric advanced life support, advanced cardiac life support, and trauma.
