The Breast Center's comprehensive medical team of nationally recognized UF physicians and surgeons provides compassionate care and personalized options for patients with benign and cancerous breast conditions and women who are at a high risk for developing breast cancer.

Importance of Multidisciplinary Care

Optimal management of many breast cancer patients involves a combination of surgery and radiation and/or medical therapy. Together, these treatments provide patients with the greatest chance of cure and the lowest chance of cancer recurrence.

Combining different types of treatment, known as multidisciplinary cancer care, is at the core of the Breast Center team's approach to breast cancer patients. New breast cancer patients are reviewed at the enter's weekly Breast Cancer Multidisciplinary Tumor Board, which is attended by the center's breast cancer focused group of:

  • surgical oncologists
  • medical oncologists
  • radiation oncologists
  • plastic surgeons
  • radiologists
  • pathologists
  • rehabilitation specialists
  • social workers

The group of experts work together to design a customized treatment plan for each patient.
