Nasal and Sinus Conditions

Breathing disorders often stem from a nasal or sinus condition and can be related to an allergy. An estimated 20 percent of the US population suffer from some sort of allergy and the result is usually incredible discomfort.

University of Florida ear, nose and throat (ENT) physicians are able to treat many allergic and non-allergic nasal and sinus disorders, such as:

• Allergic rhinitis and vasomotor rhinitis
• Broken noses
• Deviated septum
• Nasal polyps
• Septal deviation
• Sinusitis and chronic sinusitis
• Tumors in the sinuses

University of Florida ENT physicians can test to determine the source of the allergy and assess how to manage it. They can help those who suffer find relief through antihistamines, decongestants, steroids or immunotherapy.

Your treatment of nasal and sinus conditions may require an intensive program of improved nasal hygiene with saline irrigations, antibiotic therapy, treatment of nasal allergies, and surgery.

Balloon Sinuplasty™ - a new, minimally invasive surgical procedure for treating patients with chronic sinusitis. It is an outpatient procedure that gently stretches and widens the sinus openings, allowing them to drain.

Throat Disorders

In addition to nasal and sinus disorders, University of Florida ENT physicians can manage and treat a variety of throat disorders, such as:

• Chronic sore throats
• Hoarseness
• Mononucleosis
• Salivary gland problems
• Strep throat
• Tonsillitis
