Heart transplant program

transplant program at the Shands Transplant Center at the
University of Florida.
UF cardiovascular
surgeons at Shands Transplant Center performed their first
heart transplant in 1985. Since then, the heart transplant
team has performed more than 550 heart transplants. The
heart transplant program is currently ranked seventh in
the United States, according to the United Network for Organ
Sharing.
The
program offers a full range of cardiac transplantation for
children and adults. The pediatric heart transplant program
includes neonatal, newborn and infant heart transplants.
As part
of the Shands at UF academic medical center, Shands Transplant
Center is able to offer a full range of transplant programs.
UF Health Science Center faculty conduct research and clinical
trials to develop advanced heart transplant techniques.
