Requirements

As a healthcare institution, it is important for Shands AGH to protect our patients. We have a high standard of excellence because our volunteers come into contact with the patients.

Proper immunization

All potential volunteers must provide copies of their immunization records including MMR (measles, mumps and rubella), measles booster, current PPD (tuberculosis) test and confirmation of Varicella (chicken pox). If you have not had a PPD test, Shands AGH Occupational Health Services will provide one at no cost.

Application

Volunteers must complete the appropriate application for the program that they select.

Orientation

All volunteers are required to attend a hospital orientation. Volunteers may attend the orientation prior to beginning the volunteer program.

Dress code

Volunteers are required to wear the Shands AGH volunteer ID badge. Volunteer uniforms vary by service at Shands AGH.

Information

For further information on volunteering at Shands AGH or The Children’s Hospital at Shands AGH call Kimber Eiland at 352-733-0413 or email at eilank@shands.ufl.edu.
