| Auxiliary
Reaching out to others has been the major goal of the Shands AGH Auxiliary
since it was founded in 1953. What started with four women has grown to 150 active women and men who epitomize
the hospital's philosophy of patient-driven care for the whole person -- body, mind and spirit. Throughout the
years, Auxilians have found that their volunteer service to the hospital is a rewarding and worthwhile
experience.
The purposes of the Shands AGH Auxiliary include service to the hospital, public relations for the hospital,
and fundraising. These funds have been used to purchase equipment, make special purchases to help patients, and
support the Auxiliary's scholarship fund for employees pursuing health-related degrees.
