Twenty-one Shands at UF and UF Health Science employees and volunteers painted the house of a Gainesville senior citizen for Paint Your Heart Out on April 21.

Shands at UF has been participating in Paint Your Heart Out Gainesville for over 10 years.

The program is coordinated by the Volunteer Center of Alachua County. Homes are selected on the basis of the age and low-income status of the homeowner. This year, 19 homes were painted by teams comprised of employees and volunteers from various businesses and agencies in the community.

Everyone on the Shands team had a great time and went away with a sense of pride in making a difference in our community.
