Shands Vista provides treatment for:

• Thought disorders
• Mood disorders
• Serious problems with relationships
• Severe anxiety and panic disorder

The professionally-trained Shands Vista staff comprises of board-certified psychiatrists and UF Department of Psychiatry physicians and experts in a variety of fields. The treatment team also includes psychiatric nurses, therapists, and certified counselors.

Through individual and small group therapy and medication management programs, patients learn to understand their disorders and begin to focus on returning to a normal life. Group therapies include occupational and recreational therapies, psychotherapy, and appropriate family interventions.

Patients are encouraged to interact with their families through activity groups, special games and social gatherings. Patient and family therapy groups provide healing through education and addressing communication skills, stress management and relapse prevention.

Case managers work with patients and families to assess discharge needs and assist with arrangements for continuing care.
