Shands HealthCare CEO Tim Goldfarb addresses the crowd of approximately 200 people who attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the Shands at UF Cancer Hospital on Thursday, Jan. 11. The 500,000-square-foot facility will house 192 private inpatient beds for a variety of patients, including those receiving diagnostic and therapeutic cancer services.

Representatives from the University of Florida and other supporters join Shands HealthCare leaders to break ground on the $388-million Shands at UF Cancer Hospital in Gainesville, Fla. The cancer hospital will be located across the street from the Shands at UF medical center.

Judi and Davis Rembert donated $5 million to the Shands at the University of Florida Cancer Hospital fundraising committee. The Remberts are co-chairs of the fundraising committee for the new facility and are long-term local healthcare advocates and philanthropists.
